Time with family

Baby Kate got to spend some time with her big cousin Madeleine, Uncle Justin and Aunt Steph yesterday. She was obviously pretty comfortable with it all!  Ah, the life of a newborn.

Kate Riley is here!

She was born on Tuesday, April 13, weighing in at a hefty 8 lbs 4 oz. and 19 3/4 inches.  We got home on Thursday and Kate has decided, like most newborns, that she should sleep all day and cry and feed all night.  We're hoping to switch that around soon!  Big sister Abby adores her baby, but is still learning how to be calm and gentle...a big request of the world's most active child.  :)

Easter!

Easter is finally here!  Mommy told me that baby Kate will come after Easter...so any day now.

Yesterday we went on an Easter egg hunt.  It was freezing cold, but no rain, and I found tons of eggs!

Grandma and Grandpa are coming over for Easter brunch.  Daddy is busy in the kitchen so Mommy can rest.  :)  We colored eggs last night and I made one with everyone's names.  I think mine was the prettiest.

Will she look like me?

Mommy thinks there is a good chance that baby Kate will look a lot like me, her big sister.  We got these cool pictures of her at Mommy's last ultrasound, and when you compare them to pictures of me when I was just born...it is a little spooky.  Can't wait to meet her, no matter what she looks like!  The doctors tell us she is already very chubby and growing like a weed.  7 more weeks to go, the big day will be April 18.  If Kate decides to wait that long.

Mommy admits to being way too excited about the opportunity to decorate another nursery. 

Daddy painted the walls and then friends Karen, Jeff and Todd (the artist) came over last night to do the flowers.  We are loving it!  I helped by keeping the troops entertained with a puppet show, a fashion show, and some swinging renditions of Rhinoceros Tap and Philadelphia Chickens.  Going to finish it off with the letters for her name (K-A-T-E), then we'll be all set! :)

Birthday Girl

So the birthday festivities are finally over, and I've been telling anyone that will listen that "I'm still 4!".  We're still getting used to the concept. 

On the big day I got to wear a crown, and all the strangers in the hall and on the street heard that "today is my 4th birthday!"

Mommy and Daddy took me to my favorite restaurant Red Robin.  I covered my ears when they came and sang Happy Birthday, and I hid under the table with the big red robin came around for a visit. 

But I sure did love that ice cream!  And the balloons didn't hurt either.

But the fun didn't end there...last weekend I got to have a big birthday party for all of my friends.  We went swimming at the pool and then had pizza and cake.  I was so excited that all my friends came to my party...still talking about it. Mommy is thinking that one super-big birthday party every decade is probably enough!  :)
